Audio Upscaler: HD Voice

Getting Started

How do I upscale a recording?

Open the app and tap "Upscale a recording" on the dashboard. Choose Record now (in-app mic), Pick audio file (Files / iCloud Drive), or Pick video clip (Photos). Upscaling happens automatically; the result screen lets you A/B compare before saving or sharing.

What does "upscaling" actually do?

Audio Upscaler performs neural bandwidth extension. Muffled, tinny, and low-bitrate recordings are missing their high frequencies — the app regenerates that missing detail on top of your real voice, instead of just boosting volume or subtracting noise. The dual spectrogram shows the brand-new detail synthesized above the original cutoff line.

How does the before/after compare work?

On the result screen you can toggle between the original and the upscaled version and watch the spectrogram change — gray for the original, accent-colored for the regenerated highs above the cutoff line. Listen to both, then save or share the HD version when you're happy.

What's the difference between Standard HD and Studio HD?

Standard HD is the free, on-device model tuned for voice and speech — great for phone recordings, Zoom audio, and voicemails. Studio HD (Premium) is a higher-fidelity, universal-rate model that handles low-bitrate audio and music better, and adds a wet/dry blend so you can tame any sizzle and dial in a natural mix.

Audio & Video

Does it work on video files?

Yes (Premium). Pick a video clip from your Photos library and the app extracts the audio, upscales it, then mixes it back into the original video. The video stream itself is not re-encoded — visual quality is preserved bit-for-bit.

What audio formats are supported?

M4A, WAV, MP3, and CAF, plus standard MP4/MOV video containers. The app handles resampling internally and exports HD audio you can save or share anywhere.

The result sounds a little "sizzly." How do I fix it?

Very low-quality inputs can make the regenerated highs sound harsh. Use the Studio HD model (Premium) and pull the wet/dry blend back toward "dry" until it sounds natural — you keep most of the new clarity without the sizzle.

Does it work on music?

The free Standard HD model is tuned for speech. For music and low-bitrate audio, use Studio HD (Premium), which is trained on a wider range of material. It's an enhancement tool, not a mastering tool — results depend on the source.

Do I need an internet connection?

No for Standard HD — it runs entirely on your device, even in airplane mode. Studio HD requires a one-time download of its model file the first time you use it; after that it also runs fully offline.

Free vs Premium

What's free vs Premium?

Free: 1 upscale per day, up to 60 seconds per clip, Standard HD model, unlimited before/after preview (no watermark), with banner and interstitial ads. Premium: unlimited daily upscales, the Studio HD model, video audio upscaling, wet/dry control, longer clips, batch processing, and zero ads.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — the Premium Annual plan ($39.99/year) includes a 7-day free trial. You'll only be charged at the end of the trial. Cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings before the trial ends.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Settings inside the app and tap "Restore Purchases". This re-applies your active subscription if you've previously purchased one on this Apple ID.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Audio Upscaler and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Privacy

Where do my recordings go?

They stay on your iPhone. The app does not upload audio to any server. Upscaling runs on-device using Core ML. You can confirm by toggling Airplane Mode — Standard HD still works. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

What permissions does the app need?

Microphone (only when you tap Record) and Photo Library read-only (only for the video clip you pick). On the free tier, Google's advertising SDK may use a device identifier to serve ads; Premium removes all ads. Your audio is never shared with any ad network.
